RESIDENTIAL CARE MANAGER – SEDGEMOOR & FRAMLEY

Job Type: Permanent – 39 hours per week.

The Residential Manager role: We are looking for an experienced Residential Care Manager who possesses the relevant care management qualifications. You will possess excellent leadership skills and have the ability to motivate the staff team. It is essential that you have strong organisational, communications and negotiating skills.

The role offers an exciting challenge to manage a residential home for adults with learning disabilities. You will be instrumental in shaping the service to meet the future demands in this area of adult social care. This opportunity will be very rewarding both in terms of professional development and the positive impact the service makes on the individuals who reside there.

You will take charge of running the home, ensuring high standards of care and support are maintained at all times. You will also be familiar with CQC compliance, legislation under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Safeguarding Adults at Risk procedures.

You will also manage financial, administrative and recording procedures and prepare for internal and external inspections, whilst ensuring that the rights, choice, independence and person centred support is provided for every resident.

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Experience of being a registered manager and familiar with all aspects of the service provision within a residential care home
  • Leadership and Management Diploma level 5 or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience working with people with learning disabilities
  • Experience managing budgets and working to a business plan
  • A flexible, positive approach to work

SENIOR SUPPORT WORKER – SEDGEMOOR & FRAMLEY

Salary: £19,327 per annum  Hours: 39 hours per week.

Purpose of Role

To provide a safe environment, where people may learn to live as independently as their disability will allow following a person centred approach, within their own home. To establish and promote patterns and conditions of everyday life, which are as close as possible to the norms and patterns of the mainstream of society.

Working Relationships

As a senior member of the support team, you will work in close co-operation with the Residential Manager, and other members of the senior support team, to provide a safe and happy environment for the residents.

Supervise a given number of staff on a one to one basis, supporting them with training and progression within their role keeping actuate written records of meetings.

Promote team work and a collective working environment.

The work you will be involved in at times is highly confidential. If any confidentiality is broken, this may result in disciplinary action.

Main Responsibilities of the Role

  • In consultation with the Residential Care Manager, and Deputy Manager, to manage the smooth running of the Home. To participate, where necessary, in the residents’ training days promoting person centred planning. To enable the residents to maintain skills, such as personal hygiene, household routine, personal laundry, community and social skills.
  • To share the responsibility of the home with other members of the senior care team, when your Line Manager is off duty and to take immediate action necessary for any urgent matters that arise.
  • To support the residential manager to ensure finical in-house budgets are adhered to and auditing expenditure relating to provisions, domestic supplies and activities.
  • To ensure that the home’s records (day book, diary, resident’s medical notes, care plans and risk assessments) are maintained at a correct and appropriate frequency
  • To assist the Residential Manager in ensuring that adequate staff cover is maintained within the home at all times
  • To share on a rota basis with other members of the senior care team the cover of the home during Easter, Christmas and Bank Holidays
  • To work closely with Statutory, Health and Community Agencies regarding day care, general health and social needs of all residents
  • To provide appropriate support to all residents, ensuring their health and safety needs are met at all times
  • You are not required to sleep-in on a regular basis, but will need to be available in the event of emergency cover
  • Special attention is needed to ensure that the home is safe and secure at all times, remembering to lock all doors and windows when leaving the building unattended i.e. when on outings and if and when you retire for the night if you are on duty at night
  • Maintain excellent and efficient management of medication ordering, monitoring and security. To work closely with the pharmacy and residents’ GPs in the ordering and administering of the residents’ medication and to ensure that appropriate records are kept
  • To participate and lead where required staff meetings to ensure that communication is maintained between all members of the care team.
  • To work in co-operation with the Residential Manager in the everyday handling of petty cash and the residents’ personal allowances auditing expenditures, and be accountable
  • Agree to take the QCF qualifications and any other qualifications that are deemed necessary and participate in service training and support supervisees to do so
  • To supervise staff at regular intervals and address issues when they arise.
